An open message to our community:
For the second year, we are showing our support of the fight against Breast Cancer by selling "Breast Cancer Awareness" shirts. All proceeds will benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
Last year, we were able to donate more than $8,000 to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. This year, we're dedicating our campaign to Audrey Diaz, a former Fox 5 associate, a Southern Nevada resident who was our friend and strong supporter of our cause while fighting breast cancer herself. She lost her battle earlier this year and we want to donate as much as we can to the Komen Foundation in her honor, so we encourage everyone to buy a shirt and help us win this fight together.
The Southern Nevada Affiliate of Susan G. Komen (Trademarked) is dedicated to combating breast cancer at every front. Up to 75% of the affiliate's net income goes toward funding grants to local hospitals and community organizations that provide breast health education and breast cancer screening and treatment programs for medically underserved women. The remaining net income (a minimum of 25 percent) supports the national Komen Grants Program, which funds groundbreaking breast cancer research, meritorious awards and educational and scientific programs around the world.
